The Maine Afterschool Network believes that quality professional development should be accessible to every out-of-school time professional in Maine — not just those who live close to a city or can afford to travel. Our regional trainings bring hands-on, practical learning directly to communities across the state, removing the geographic and financial barriers that too often leave rural and underserved providers without the support they need.

Throughout the year, MASN offers in-person workshops across Maine. No matter where your program is located, there is a training designed to meet you where you are.

What to Expect

Regional trainings are designed to be practical, collaborative, and immediately applicable to your work. You will roll up your sleeves alongside other out-of-school time professionals from your region, work through real challenges, and leave with tools you can use the very next day. Each training typically includes hands-on skill building, facilitated peer discussion, practical resources you can bring back to your program, and time to connect with other providers in your area who understand the landscape you are working in.

Who Should Attend

Regional trainings are designed for anyone working in or leading an out-of-school time program in Maine — including program directors, site coordinators, frontline youth workers, and school-based staff. Whether you are brand new to the field or a seasoned practitioner, there is something valuable for you. We especially encourage participation from providers in rural and underserved communities who may have limited access to other professional development opportunities.

Topics and Themes

Training topics are selected based on input from the field and address the real challenges facing out-of-school time programs in Maine today, including youth engagement strategies, program quality tools, trauma-informed practices, staff recruitment and retention, career connected learning, family and community partnerships, and sustainability planning.
